They truly broke the mold when they created Duncan our German Sheppard. When he lost his best friend Gracie, he had a very difficult time adjusting. Though we were always close, he and I became best of friends. We didn’t go many places without each other. He was the most handsome, loyal, best friend that anyone could ever ask for, he truly was my hero. His friendship was completely unconditional, unlike Grace he never thought about himself, and only me. I loved him for that. We lost him to cancer in May 2002, I still expect his big happy face in the window when I drive up, it was always a comfort knowing he was here to come home to.
Gracie was the most vivacious and carefree dog in the world. She lived every day to the fullest, always putting herself first of course. We truly loved that about her. She was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect at the age of three months and wasn’t expected to live more than three years of age. Not to our surprise our girl lived to one month short of her tenth birthday. It just proves that a lot of love and being spoiled rotten is the best medicine. There will never be another Gracie, that is for sure.
Though we have a new addition to our family that we just adore, we will never forget all the great memories that Grace and Duncan gave us. Thank God for our canine companions.
Love, The Chandlers
