Alberta Inglis Scholarship Award

In 1999 the Brant Animal Aid Foundation established a $1000 scholarship in memory of Alberta Inglis.

Alberta Inglis was the first female to be named Principal with the Brant County Board of Education and as a veteran of the Second World War, she achieved the rank of Captain when she served overseas in the Women’s Army Corps.

Alberta Inglis championed and advocated for the rights of animals and spent a lifetime dedicated to their health, care and well-being.

The Alberta Inglis Scholarship is an award opportunity for students pursuing post-secondary studies in Animal Health Care programs. All students who have been accepted to or are enrolled in a post-secondary program at a college or university that is related to the study of animal health care are invited to apply for the Alberta Inglis Scholarship Award.

Criteria for The Award

  • The award is based on the candidate’s academic performance and need for financial assistance.
  • Applicants must be accepted into a recognized course at a university or college that is directly related to the field of animal health care.
  • Applicants must have completed their secondary education within Brantford or Brant County.
  • The award is for a one-year period. Previous applicants may apply.
  • The annual award is $1000. The award may or may not be awarded every year and could be awarded to one or more students.

Application Process

Applications and full eligibility criteria for this award are available at all Secondary School Student Services and Cooperative Education Departments and many Veterinary Clinics in Brant County. Questions regarding this award opportunity may be directed to bonnieblunt70@gmail.com.

Deadline for applications is July 15th each year.

Alberta Inglis Scholarship Award Recipients 2024

Congratulations to Cailyn Charlton!

Cailyn is a graduate of the Class of 2024 at Pauline Johnson Collegiate and Vocational School. She will begin her post-secondary studies at Lakeland College, Vermilion, AB in the Animal Science Technology – Dairy Science Major Program in September.

“I believe growing up and being involved on the family dairy farm has shaped who I am as a person and instilled in me a strong work ethic, ambition and drive. I have always liked working in the barn and watching the cows develop over the years. I strive to work alongside my Dad and carry on the family legacy of dairy farming in the County of Brant.” - Cailyn Charlton

Congratulations to Maggie Beaudin!

Maggie is a graduate of the Class of 2024 at Paris District High School. She will begin her post-secondary studies at the University of Guelph – Equine Management Program in September.

“I am pursuing a career working with animals as a veterinarian beginning with the Equine Management Program at the University of Guelph as an undergraduate student. I grew up on a farm and have always felt great comfort being around animals. Presently I am enjoying working at a veterinary clinic where I have had opportunities to watch surgeries and to assist with animal health care.” - Maggie Beaudin
